Il telaio deriva direttamente dalla straordinaria YZ450F, che ha vinto numerose gare MXGP e Supercross nella sua prima stagione. La geometria rivisitata, il nuovo collegamento delle sospensioni posteriori e le impostazioni di fabbrica modificate sia sul lato anteriore che posteriore migliorano la trazione all'uscita in curva, portando la rinomata e agile maneggevolezza della YZ250F a un livello superiore in pista.

Carrozzeria compatta con involucri ultra-sottili e una sella molto più piatta, compreso un componente unico per un rapido cambio di peso. È disponibile anche un sistema di gestione dell'aria ad alta efficienza e una centralina rivista che offre una risposta fluida e controllabile in termini di prestazioni di fascia bassa e di gamma elevata, mentre l'ultima versione del app Power Tuner è dotata di un'intuitiva funzione di "Quick Tuning". Lo scarico è stato ridisegnato per ridurre il livello del rumore, rispettando le più recenti normative in materia di rumorosità.
