"APRISERENO" TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM

The V-Strom 650 XT now features traction control inherited from its big sister. The system continuously monitors wheel speed, throttle position, engine rpm and gear engaged through various sensors. In this way, it controls engine power by managing fuel injection and intake air volume.

Traction control can be adjusted to two levels or turned off. The two modes differ in terms of sensitivity: 

  • Mode 1: allows moderate rear wheel slip for a more aggressive riding style.
  • Mode 2: Activates the system at the smallest loss of grip, to ensure the highest level of confidence on slippery or wet surfaces.

The choice between the two modes can be easily managed by a selector switch on the side of the left knob. 

Note: Traction control is not a substitute for rider control of the motorcycle, does not prevent loss of control when cornering or braking too fast, and does not control front wheel traction

LOTS OF INFORMATION TO ACHIEVE EVERY GOAL

Sharing the design, ease of use and clarity of the instrument panel of its big sister, the V-Strom 650 XT gives you more information and in a higher quality. The panel incorporates an analog speedometer and a large digital indicator for gear engaged and speed.

The digital section shows odometer, dual trip, clock, fuel level, coolant temperature, outside temperature, battery voltage, range, average and instantaneous consumption, and traction control mode engaged.

In addition, instant LEDs provide indications such as the warning light that warns of possible icy road conditions*, high beam lights, neutral and ABS. All this information is accessible from the left switch, where the trip can also be reset.

*The indicator light starts flashing when the outdoor temperature drops below 3 °C. It continues flashing for 30 seconds and finally remains lit until the outdoor temperature reaches 5 °C.

BRAKING SYSTEM WITH ABS

Equipped with two 310 mm discs at the front and a 260 mm disc at the rear, the V-Strom 650 XT enables powerful and deep braking. In addition, the lightweight and compact ABS* system, which prevents wheel lockup when braking too hard, has been upgraded with a setting that facilitates a natural riding feel and increases safety.

*ABS does not reduce braking distance. Please always ride safely according to the weather and asphalt conditions, especially when cornering.

PISTONS WITH ANTI-FRICTION COATING

One of the substantial changes to the engine is the anti-friction coating of the piston barrel, which decreases the friction between the piston and cylinder and at the same time enables lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions. A new "L-shaped" oil scraper ring is also used to better seal the cylinder and minimize blow-by.
