Find out moreEquipped with two 310 mm discs at the front and a 260 mm disc at the rear, the V-Strom 650 XT enables powerful and deep braking. In addition, the lightweight and compact ABS* system, which prevents wheel lockup when braking too hard, has been upgraded with a setting that facilitates a natural riding feel and increases safety.
*ABS does not reduce braking distance. Please always ride safely according to the weather and asphalt conditions, especially when cornering.
The 645 cc twin-cylinder V-Twin is a work of art designed and built by Suzuki engineers that has evolved over the years. The engine has been updated by going more low and mid-range without compromising power in the high range.
The unit adapts to Euro 5 standards through the use of new elements and by revising more than 60 components to maintain the same elasticity and low fuel consumption. It is precisely the low fuel consumption, together with the 20-liter fuel tank, that makes the V-Strom 650 XT top of its class in terms of range, relieving the rider of the stress related to frequent stops.
One of the substantial changes to the engine is the anti-friction coating of the piston barrel, which decreases the friction between the piston and cylinder and at the same time enables lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions. A new "L-shaped" oil scraper ring is also used to better seal the cylinder and minimize blow-by.
To go along with the unique character of the V-Strom 650 XT, the engine also needs to perform at high rpm. For this a renewed intake camshaft is adopted, while as for the exhaust it adopts the one developed for the SV650.
These innovations, together with an improved set-up in every detail, have resulted in higher torque and power, particularly in the mid-range. This also allows for a more aggressive riding style due to the engine's quick response.
