From the very beginning, the R1 was developed without compromise, and this pure, focused design philosophy is what makes this high-tech Yamaha competition bike the most exciting Supersport bike of our time.
Every advanced technological component of the R1 was developed based on the knowledge Yamaha has gathered from participating in competition at the highest level. The unique 998 cc 4-cylinder Euro 5 crossplane engine descends directly from the M1, while the aerodynamic bodywork is inspired by track designs.

But above all, it is the R1's incredible intelligent electronics that make this bike so special. Equipped with every element possible, from ride-by-wire throttle to Launch Control System (LCS), Engine Brake Management (EBM), Brake Control (BC) and more, the R1 is the ultimate Yamaha Supersport, built to dominate the road and the track. The model is available in the new Icon Blue two-tone sporty matte blue color scheme, as well as the dynamic Yamaha Black option.
